In the Mystery
9” x 12” Oil on canvas panel, framed in natural wood as pictured.
How the painting feels:
Somber, reflective, mysterious; pink roses emerge from the abyss. Surprised by a warm embrace of delicate pink petals, this painting is proof that darkness and light coexist and make our lives rich with contrast.
How this painting came about:
New life can bloom and hold abundance and new beginnings for the soul.
I hung my dark gray apron upon my artist’s table as I set up my still life. I knew I was going to paint these beautiful pink roses that were left over from my daughter’s first birthday party. My desire was to make the roses pop against a dark background, further highlighting their beauty. I painted the light as it reflected and refracted inside the various panes and angles of the bottle.
A flower blooms, sharing her loveliness, and then returns to the soil many times over. New beginnings come from beautiful endings.
