Blooms: Pink Crush

$150.00

8” x 10” Oil on canvas panel, framed in natural wood as pictured.

How the painting feels:

“A pink lion wakes from slumber. The leader of the pack shakes it’s mane and unfurls a salmon carpet, layer upon layer, beckoning you to peek inside of the Mandelbrot set of never-ending fuchsia fractals. Fluffy and delicately formed, each petal peeks out from underneath their sister petals, lifts their faces and cries out to the sunshine, “We’re here, we’re here, and we love you!”

How the painting came about:

My parents came up to visit our baby Camille. My mom ran to the store and bought the peonies. My dad got his cameras out and we all collaborated on a photoshoot of our precious Camille. When the shoot was over, I gathered what was left of the peonies. By this time, they were slightly frayed and feathered by the angelic and yet slightly forceful fists of my infant daughter. This produced a beautiful effect of an abundance upon the bouquet, as each petal emerged to shimmer in the light—each petal possibly thinking they were having a solo dance with their partner petal—so in love with life and the moment that they did not notice the other thousand petals having a rave upon the dance floor.

My thoughts on the painting now:

This painting is perfect and sweet. There’s no tension, only peace and wholeness. Joy bursts forth of each flower’s head. Each one sings a different note in perfect harmony.
